CobblestoneLogoTurning the spotlight on caregivers who are dealing with their loved one’s Alzheimer’s disease, Park Springs will host representatives of The Frank & Barbara Broyles Foundation / CareGivers United for a special invitation-only event in September 2014. Park Springs offers independent living, assisted living suites, secured memory care and skilled nursing and rehabilitation on its beautiful 54-acre campus in Stone Mountain.

Coach Broyles, who served as the head football coach at the University of Missouri in 1957 and at the University of Arkansas from 1958 to 1976, was Arkansas’ athletic director from 1974 until his retirement on December 31, 2007. A 1983 inductee into the College Football Hall of Fame, Broyles was once again honored by the National Football Foundation in 2000 as the recipient of the John L. Toner Award, and in June 2008, Broyles was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.

Coach Broyles lost his beloved wife in 2004, but decided to turn his family’s adversity into positive energy in his desire to help other caregivers. He produced Coach Broyles’ Playbook for Alzheimer’s Caregivers, which has since been distributed to millions of caregivers throughout the U.S.

In 2009, the Frank & Barbara Broyles Foundation began operating as a non-profit organization which not only manages distribution of the Playbook, but offers seminars in caregiving throughout the country, conducted by the three generations of Broyles family members involved in Barbara’s care.

This outreach is Coach Broyles’ passion:

To provide the much-needed information found in the Caregivers’ Playbook to families and eldercare organizations that are striving to provide compassionate care to sufferers of Alzheimer’s.
