Chamblee sits in the northern part of Georgia’s historic DeKalb County. The city is deeply historic, as noticeable by the vintage architecture that graces many of the buildings here and the fact that quaint and eclectic antique stores are among the most prominent. With one of the highest Asian populations in the Atlanta area, Chamblee is home to some of the most traditional Asian restaurants, markets and stores in the region and it is one of the most popular places to visit among those seniors who reside in the Atlanta’s active adult communities.

About Chamblee, Georgia

The area where Chamblee now sits was once dedicated land used exclusively for dairy farms prior to the 19th century. In the late-19th century, the new railroad system was built through the area and it was here that an important intersection was made. One line carried passengers from Atlanta to Charlotte, North Carolina while the other line transported workers and goods between Atlanta and Roswell, GA. Because of its connection to Roswell, the area became known as Roswell Junction and not much later, a new post office was established for the region. Eventually, it was determined that the name of the town was too closely related to Roswell, so in 1907 the city was incorporated under the name Chamblee.

Home to Camp Gordon throughout both World Wars, Chamblee continued to grow as a residential and commercial center, eventually becoming one of the most multi-cultural residential communities in the country today.
