Guests and Park Springs members gathered on Saturday, September 15 for an in-depth “Healthy Aging” symposium hosted by Park Springs. Local and national experts presented on topics such as healthy aging, brain fitness, finances, retirement housing options, understanding Dementia and Alzheimer’s, and more.

“A number of seniors who are currently in the process of deciding where to move, together with some of their family members, joined us for our first-ever symposium, titled ‘Changing the Way We Age & Planning for the Future,” said Cindy Homer Baron, Park Springs’ Director of Sales. “Our goal was to provide information and insight on relevant topics of interest and concern to aging seniors and their adult children, and I am pleased to say that the symposium was very well-received.”

Laura Keyes, Community Development Manager, Aging Services Division at the Atlanta Regional Commission, opened with her presentation, Trends in Senior Living That Impact Our Families. Four long break-out sessions followed, including talks by Lois Ricci, nurse/educator at the Institute of Gerontology at UGA; Ken Mitchell, former Sate Director for AARP of Georgia; Tom Silveria of the Atlanta Alzheimer’s Association, and Liz Bush of Life Care Services.

All guests and participants were invited to a complimentary and healthy lunch prepared by Park Springs’ executive chef. During and following lunch, a panel of Park Springs members and adult children of members provided their perspective of the outstanding opportunities offered by Park Springs.
