2013 Lisa Kiely Park SpringsLisa Kiely, Park Springs’ Director of Wellness and Community Life Services, recently put together a list of tips for seniors on how to live well – today:

  • Understand what is happening in your community, participate, attend meetings.
  • Have an opinion and vote. Vote at the polls but also vote with your feet and your wallet. Frequent places that treat you well.
  • Be yourself- don’t be afraid to be different. Wear whatever makes you feel good!
  • Look for the positive in all aspects of daily life.  Tell others what you like about them, what went well and how you are looking forward to new experiences.
  • Be prepared for mistakes and/or set backs.
  • Set an example for others, be active, eat healthy, and laugh a lot.
  • Ask questions, try to get to know others – find common ground.
  • Share stories about your experiences, start a blog for your (extended) family.
  • Extend a hand to others, volunteer, give back, be involved.
  • Strut. Be Retro.
  • And…don’t be afraid to let others know you don’t know it all!
