9,400 Smiles Per Day in the Golf View Villas

9400 Building at Park Springs

We’ve not actually counted the number of smiles that cross the faces of the Park Springs Members who call the Golf View Villas home – especially the Members who live in the 9400 Building – but we expect that the number easily approaches 9,400 smiles per day!

After spending some time with the engaged, enthusiastic and eminently entertaining Park Springs Members who get together every month for a neighbors reception in the Club Room and atrium lobby of the 9400 Building, we are smiling too.

“The 9400 Building is the place to be,” says Mrs. Bobbe Corbett, who enjoys coordinating the monthly gatherings, often themed. (At the March gathering, more than 25 neighbors celebrated St. Patrick’s Day.)

“This building is home to a great combination of people, not just from all over the U.S. but from all over the world. We have neighbors from as far away as New York and as close as Decatur, and others who originally hail from Great Britain, Germany and The Netherlands – and we have all become dear friends,” explains Mrs. Corbett.

Mrs. Carolyn Brooks shares a few of her reasons for moving to the Golf View Villas seven years ago: “I wanted to move here while I could still enjoy this lifestyle – and I did not want to move more than once. My six grandchildren cannot wait to visit me here and they are so happy for me that I have found this fun group of friends in the 9400 building.”

Happy Residents of the 9400 Building

For Mr. and Mrs. Alick and Jean Elliott, the fact that the Park Springs community is only one of two LCS-managed retirement communities that offers a full-time geriatrician on site was a deciding factor to move here. They moved to their home in the Golf View Villas from Boca Raton, FL to be closer to family in Woodstock, GA, and very carefully weighed the clubs, services and amenities offered by Park Springs before settling in the 9400 Building. And when they found that the community lacked a Croquet Club, they started one!

Mrs. Connie Detlefs, of Dutch origin, talks about the history represented at Park Springs. “I have met so many interesting people who live here, and I have found everybody to be kind, warm and welcoming.” Her father moved his family to the US in the late 1920s, traveled through the U.S. for nine months, “…from Miami to Buffalo and Chicago,” and finally settled the family in Atlanta. “He found the best climate here – weather-wise and for his business.”

Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Marion Cepnik liked the actual lay-out of the 9400 building. Its design and the floor plan of their villa was a big attraction. “After living more than 25 years on Skidaway Island near Savannah (GA), doing inside and outside maintenance was becoming less and less attractive,” according to Mr. Cepnik. “Good projects became work.”

There are many stories and many smiles to share at the Golf View Villas at Park Springs, like there are throughout the 54-acre retirement community located at the base of Stone Mountain.
