Anresa Davis, Senior Residency Counselor

From the very start of Park Springs, already ten years ago this year, Anresa Davis has helped many potential Members visualize what change can look like in their lives by moving to Park Springs, the resort-style senior community in Stone Mountain.

“When my parents moved from their home into senior living in Savannah, I saw how they almost transformed into new people within one week,” remembers Anresa. “No more worries about keeping up the house or the yard. Lots of new friends. They loved being a part of their new community, being involved and engaged. Then, when we lost my mother, my father was already established in his new home, safe and secure and surrounded by a caring friends.”

Actually, it was during the process of finding a suitable living arrangement for her parents that Anresa confided to her mother, “This, helping seniors make the move to the right retirement community, is what I want to do with my life.” Her mother’s response? “I wondered when you were going to realize how well-suited you are for this!”

Anresa, who graduated with a RN degree from Georgia College before she was even 21 years old, had most recently been working at the Emergency Room at Emory Hospital when she decided to investigate job opportunities at Park Springs CCRC that was being built right in her back yard.

“I was very impressed by Park Springs’ forward-thinking approach to senior living and the CCRC model that Park Springs introduced to Georgia. Also, I just knew that I had many skills and talents to contribute,” she says. “I brought to the table my experience as an adult child, helping parents make this big decision, my passion for service and caring for older adults, and my determination to completely educate myself about senior communities.  At one point during the interview process, I even stated that “You can hire me now, or you can hire me later!” I really wanted to be on the Park Springs team – and I have enjoyed it ever since.”

Today, Anresa is Park Springs’s Senior Residency Counselor, whose best part of the job is being able to “…keep families together.” Thoughtful and practical at the same time, Anresa always asks potential Park Springs members: Why move now? What has changed in your life?

“Even if their individual needs differ, a couple is able to stay together at Park Springs. We truly offer a continuum of care here, and are able to provide exactly the services that are needed at different times in peoples’ lives,” she says.

Anresa is inspired by three formidable mentors in her life: her mother, her fifth grade teacher Sister Mary Finnbar, and Mary Catherine Summerlin, former Director of Nursing at Georgia College.  “I use their life lessons every day – and one of the most profound ones is to treat every person as your own parent.”

In addition to her family (husband Phil and sons John and Steven), Anresa is very active with the Rotary Club of Stone Mountain, her church and Georgia College’s Alumni Association. “Right now we are establishing a nursing scholarship in honor of Mary Catherine Summerlin who taught me, and many others, so much.”

During the past ten years, Anresa has helped many current members visualize the change and then, realize their move to Park Springs. One measure of her contributions to the success of Park Springs is the happiness of the many families she has helped and continues to help.

Thank you Anresa! With you, Park Springs looks forward to a bright new decade as Atlanta’s premier CCRC.
