When I look out our window onto the Stone Mountain golf course with the gorgeous trees and changing colors, I can’t even compare life here to one of those Buckhead high-rises. It’s delightful to take a walk around the grounds and stop and chat with interesting people along the way.

You just can’t do everything at Park Springs, so you try things and of course there’s no obligation if you want to change. Whatever you choose to do, there’s a great deal of support from other Members.

When we first moved here, some of our friends back home had no idea what a continuing care retirement community was all about. We explained that there’s everything you might want to do, but if you prefer to sit around the house in your PJs and read, that’s fine, too.

It’s a big decision for people. We knew what we wanted to do, but there are people who are on the fence about should we sell our home…This is the best move we’ve ever made and I can say that truthfully. It’s the best thing we’ve ever done.

If you live in a home alone and if your spouse needs extended care or home health care, you can get it but you need to oversee and pay for it. At a place like ParkSprings…it’s done for you. All you do is pick up the phone and say “we need help”.

If I just want to rest or read, I don’t have to worry about cooking–just come on down to the dining room. You can [also] call the Bistro and have dinner sent to our villa — it’s just wonderful! You may decide to keep your pajamas on all day, which would be perfectly alright!

Having looked at several others, I feel Park Springs is just better. It’s physical beauty is one of the things. In that it stands above [the rest]. In addition, the manner in which it’s run, the care that’s given to the people who live here…it just has a lot going for it.

I looked at some retirement communities before I came here. They were way out. I couldn’t have gone to the art museum or the symphony easily — or any of the other things that Atlanta offers. I think we are very fortunate. We’re still in the country, but we’re only 30 minutes from the major city and it makes a huge difference to me.

My doctor recommended I find a nutritionist and personal trainer.

I told him I had both right here at Park Springs. The light menu options and regular workouts in the fitness center have really paid off.

We both love participating in the annual fitness challenge – the competition is pretty serious! We’re committed to staying well and Park Springs helps us do it.

Living adjacent to Stone Mountain Park’s wonderful golf course is perfect for us. We go out the private gate and are on the first tee in five minutes! We both enjoy the programs and activities at Park Springs, including going on cruises with other members. And when our kids and grandkids come over, we don’t have to do all the things you do when you have a house, including cooking!

As a former art teacher, I was really happy to discover that there was a place where I could sculpt, paint and do ceramics. There’s so much going on here! And the location is great for getting together with our friends and family who live nearby.

We came for an overnight visit and decided to stay! There’s everything you might want to do, but if you prefer to sit around the house in your PJs and read, that’s fine, too. With the wonderful dining, golfing, planned activities, and onsite healthcare, we like the security and value we’ve found here.

I enjoy staying busy with the Red Hat Society, the Stone Mountain Historic Society and other volunteer work in the area. With my husband gone, my friends at the Park and within the community are like an extended family for me. I looked at other retirement options, but experience taught me that having plenty to do and access to healthcare is important. Park Springs has everything I want and need.

I was in the corporate entertainment business and now I’m directing and performing with an outstanding cast of Park Springs members. I challenge myself and the cast to do something a little more difficult each year. It really is a matter of pride – which is the theme of our next annual show. We’re pretty darn good and we expect another sell-out crowd this year!

For years, Becky asked me to take dancing lessons with her. But somehow I was always too busy. After moving to Park Springs, we’ve been kicking up our heels with weekly lessons and a monthly dance. Living here, we have choices and we don’t have to wait for the weekends to socialize. If we want to entertain, we don’t have to prepare the meal or do the dishes! And if we want to go to the Symphony, we don’t have to drive!

I’ve gone from nursing others to nurturing my inner artist.

My career as a nurse taught me a lot about health and wellness and the importance of exercise. At Park Springs, I enjoy aerobics and tai chi classes. I also take painting classes – something I’d always wanted to do!

There’s always something new to experience around here.

The best part of living here is the people.

I meet a friend three times a week to work out in the fitness center. Lee prefers walking on campus and in Stone Mountain Park. They do things beautifully here – from the landscaping to the artwork and the great Park Springs food.

Now managing my atrial fibrillation is easy.

Since moving to Park Springs I’ve been working with a personal trainer, exercising on my own and getting my monthly checkups right here in the Park Springs Clinic.

I feel great and haven’t let my heart condition get in the way of a busy and active life!

I survived quadruple bypass, but my weight was a problem.

My doctor gave me strict orders to lose 40 pounds and change my eating habits. Swimming laps, playing water volleyball with friends and support from the Park Springs chefs help me maintain my new healthy lifestyle.

We were ready to move to Park Springs, but we couldn’t sell our Atlanta home. The Vintage Home Program really simplified the process. We were able to move soon after the ‘for sale’ sign went up. Our house was sold seven months later.
