Park Springs Welcomes The Cook Family

After living 28 years in Cape Ann (north of Boston) and 31 years before that in Rochester (NY), Wendel and Suzanne Cook moved this fall to Park Springs. One of the main reasons to make the big move was that one of their three sons and his wife had retired to Sugar Hill (close to Park Springs in Gwinnett County) where their three sons were already living.

“Family is the one of most important parts of our lives,” says Mrs. Cook, who married her husband 59 years ago after meeting him at Purdue University. After Navy ROTC, Mr. Cook was commissioned and spent two years active duty on a destroyer, including a round-the-world-cruise and duty in Korean waters. They were married during his last year of active duty. “Finally we are so close to a big part of our family that we even get to see our three of our great-grandchildren grow up!”

“There is no question that moving to Park Springs was the right decision for us, at the right time,” says Mr. Cook. “When we are not unpacking, we love sitting on our screened-in porch, overlooking the lake, enjoying our first mild fall. The scenery and views are very pleasing.”

When asked what else they’ve enjoyed during their first three weeks (!) in Georgia, Mr. Cook notes: “The proximity to our family is wonderful, but we are also pleased with the number and variety of activities and events that are offered here and the vibrant people that we have already met. We look forward to making many new friends here.

“In addition, we are highly impressed with the professionalism of every staff member we’ve been in touch with thus far. We checked out four different retirement communities in the Atlanta area, and Park Springs really stood out!” adds Mrs. Cook.

“The icing on the cake is that we just learned that there are three other members at Park Springs who also used to live in Rochester, isn’t that a coincidence,” remarks Mr. Cook, who started his professional career at Eastman Kodak as a chemical engineer, and retired as Vice President and General Manager of the company’s manufacturing operation including Film, Paper and Chemicals. Mr. Cook, who received an MBA from the University of Rochester also received his MS Degree from M.I.T. as a Sloan Fellow.

Upon graduating from Purdue with a degree in home economics, Mrs. Cook became a home demonstration agent overseeing the 4-H program in Randoph County, IN. She later served with Rochester Gas & Electric Corporation in the home service department; and as a freelance agent, she tested recipes for the R. T. French Co. promotional brochures.

Mr. and Mrs. Cook are world travelers and have visited all seven continents, including Antarctica and the High Arctic.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Cook:
From all of us at Park Springs: Welcome to Georgia!
