DSC05710Even though Pearl Leslie has only been working in the housekeeping department at the Park Springs retirement community for little more than a year, she was chosen as Park Springs’ Employee of the Month for July 2013.

Originally from Jamaica, Pearl has been doing housekeeping in private homes and hospitals for more than 30 years, first in New Jersey and later in the Atlanta area.

She and her husband Cobourne Leslie, who is a painter on the maintenance staff of Park Springs, moved to Atlanta 12 years ago after falling in love with the area while on a church trip. Eventually, her daughter, brother and two sisters moved South as well and joined them in Atlanta, “… a great blessing, especially because we love being close to our two grandchildren,” says Pearl.

Pearl and her husband are founding members of the Cornerstone Church of Zion in Snellville, and she sees her work as Park Springs as a gift. “Even though I lost my mother four years ago, I get to honor her memory every day. I get to meet so many wonderful people here at Park Springs, and sometimes I sing for them, or visit with them on my lunch break, just because I have so much love to give. In turn, the members here fill my life with joy and kindness.”

With her bright smile and big heart, Pearl is a great asset to the Park Springs team.
“I am always happy, and enjoy the opportunity to cheer people up. I’ve been told that people here worry when I am not singing!”
