Park Springs’ Dr. Hagan Baskin Featured in Recent Story

Leslie Johnson, editor of Stone Mountain Patch.com, the daily e-publication for residents of Stone Mountain, contacted Park Springs resident Dr. Hagan Baskin for his opinion on the proposed cancellation of U.S. Postal Service’s mail delivery on Saturdays.

According to the article, Dr. Baskin, 81, a retired vascular surgeon, said: “I’m in favor of it. I think we could go to Monday, Wednesday, Friday post office delivery and save more money.”

Saturday mail delivery will end in August. The move, which does not affect package delivery, is expected to save $2 billion annually, the report indicated.

CBS News reports the plan to shrink delivery from six days a week to five would only affect first-class mail, while packages, mail-order medicines, priority and express mail would still get delivered on Saturdays.
