Isakson Living Is First in Georgia to Introduce Household Model of Care

Pebblebrook at Park Springs: Designed to Provide Person-Directed Care

Isakson Living, the Atlanta-based developer of Park Springs, Atlanta’s luxury retirement community in Stone Mountain, is the first company in Georgia to offer the ‘household model of care’ that is gaining momentum throughout the country.

The Isakson Living Household Model will be introduced in its brand-new Pebblebrook healthcare center. Currently under construction, Pebblebrook, which is scheduled to open in 2017, is located adjacent to the Park Springs campus, and will offer a total of six distinct households, each designed to look and feel like a home.

As this video illustrates, the household model challenges long-held institutional beliefs and practices.

“We are honored to be the first to adopt the household model in Georgia,” says Andy Isakson, managing partner of Isakson Living.

When finished, Pebblebrook will include six distinct households, each with their own living room, kitchen and dining area, serving a maximum of 18 Members. They will include all the comforts of home, with ample natural light and ready access to inviting courtyards where Members and their families can come and go as they please.

The core of the Isakson Living Household Model is that the Members in each household are at the center of the organizational chart – better yet, they direct their own care and are encouraged to continue to grow and achieve their life goals regardless of their healthcare needs.

An ‘intentional community,’ the household model is designed to provide a comfortable sense of place and belonging – with an emphasis on individual choice and control.

“At Pebblebrook, Members are supported to live their best lives by a small, self-organized team of caring professionals who serve as partners to the elders in their household,” notes Andy. “We provide an atmosphere of empowerment and trust, where providing the best quality of life is paramount.”

In addition to the six distinct households, Pebblebrook’s state-of-the-art facility will include amenities to promote socialization and healthy connections, such as a 3,000 sq. ft. physical therapy gym, community hall, Lobby Café and beautiful outdoor living spaces.
