Jacque Hurt becomes Certified Dementia Practitioner

A big congratulations is in order for Jacque Hurt on becoming a Certified Dementia Practitioner! For those who may not know Jacque, she is the Primary Training Manager for Pebblebrook. Her goal is to make sure our staff are adequately and continuously trained to do their best caring for our Members. With this new certification, along with her being an already Certified Dietary Manager, Jacque is excited to continue equipping our team with more knowledge and ability.

Jacque has an extensive background in Long Term Care, as well as personal experience having been the main caregiver for her mother. What drew her to her role in Park Springs is our use of the Household Model of Care. As she puts it, “The Household Model of Care is care as it should be- human, compassionate, familiar and supportive.” As one who is familiar with the field of caregiving, she recognizes that Park Springs is not the norm. Our goal of building true relationships with those we care for is not the industry standard. And that’s why Park Springs is Atlanta’s premier Life Plan Community because our people go well beyond the industry standard.

If you ever have the opportunity to meet Jacque, you should. Her care for what she does in phenomenal. When asked about her mission as a caregiver and her new certification, she had this to say:

I guess to sum it all up, I am just passionate for caring for elders. The rich histories that they bring to life through stories and reminiscence remind us that a life well-lived is full of valleys and mountain tops. Providing compassionate, supportive care to those who need us is the highest calling, and being able to provide that care in an environment that the culture encourages, that is life-changing. As a Certified Dietary Manager, I always wanted to provide nourishment for the soul as well as the body. As a Certified Dementia Practitioner, my goals are to train staff to provide that same care- care that nourishes the soul, not just the body, and to provide that same care to staff and our members myself.
