31 Oct Meet Park Springs’ New Director of Community Life Services
In October 2013, Jennifer Durham was promoted to the position of Director of Community Life Services at Park Springs. A graduate of Kennesaw State University, Jennifer holds a B.S. Degree in Exercise Health Science with a concentration in Health Promotion. She has been with Park Springs since 2004, most recently as Activities Coordinator in the Leisure Services Department.
“My focus, every day, is to improve the quality of life for the Park Springs’ Members through quality wellness programming. I also enjoy serving as the liaison to several Member-led committees. I help ensure that new members get quickly acclimated and involved with other Members in our vibrant and welcoming community,” says Jennifer.
In addition to her full days at Park Springs, Jennifer is an avid volunteer with the Happy Club, a social club for physically and mentally disabled adults between the ages of 18 and 50+.
She first started volunteering with this group while she interned at the Decatur-DeKalb Family YMCA during college. Currently Jennifer coordinates all Happy Club activities and volunteers. The more than 100 members socialize 2-3 times per month through activities such as bowling, attending movies, dancing, etc. Additionally, the group takes an annual 4-day trip to the beach.
“I am service-oriented. I love to give to the community, and I get so much back. That’s what I love about my job at Park Springs,” explains Jennifer. “Getting to know our Members is so rewarding. The most fun part of my day is getting people involved and showing them how to take advantage of the many opportunities to make new friends at Park Springs.”
