29 Dec Matt Humphrey, Director of Community Improvements
Matt Humphrey is Park Springs’ Director of Community Improvements, and oversees all construction activities on the Park Springs campus, including the five- and ten-year refurbishment projects. “We make sure that all projects, large and small, are up to Park Springs standards. We handle residential upgrades and repairs as well as large-scale work items such as roofing projects, carpet installations and much more.”
When Matt Humphrey joined the team at Park Springs in September 2014, he brought with him more than two decades of experience in the construction industry, as well as an in-depth understanding of the huge transition many seniors make when they are moving to a retirement community since he served for seven years in a retirement community in Michigan in sales and marketing, and as a residency life coordinator in a variety of roles including serving as a Chaplain responding to the residents’ spiritual needs.
Matt notes that he follows in the footsteps of his father, his mentor, who was also a pastor. The two of them worked together in construction for almost ten years, giving Matt the opportunity to learn about life’s physical and spiritual building blocks.
“My Dad inspired me by his conduct and his deep concern for others. I learned from him how important it is to travel alongside people when they are on their journey,” says Matt, who enjoys every aspect of his job, from dealing with skilled tradesmen to discussing renovations with the Members at Park Springs. “I have a curious mind and an insatiable appetite for learning, and enjoy finding practical and targeted solutions.”
At Park Springs, Matt likes to be part of the move-in process. “My team and I can help make the transition go smoothly, and make the new Members realize that we are here to help them get ready for a new chapter in their life. I consider many of the Members pioneers – the generations that came before them did not explore living in retirement communities like Park Springs that offer so much joy, every day,” notes Matt.
“So often, we hear from Members or their family that moving to Park Springs has given them a whole new outlook on life. People thrive here – the homes are beautiful, the setting is spectacular, and people make new friends and enjoy new activities. This is a happy place to be.”
Matt and his wife left Michigan for Loganville, where they are raising their three young daughters. “Rather than waiting for retirement, we moved from the snow to a warm place where we would want to live later,” he smiles. “We like the small-town feel of our new hometown, and have started exploring different cities and parks throughout this beautiful state.”
