02 Apr Park Springs Trails … and Trail Mix
Park Springs, the luxury retirement community located next to Georgia’s beautiful Stone Mountain Park, the park that is renowned for its great walking, biking and running trails, boasts inviting walking paths on its 54-acre campus as well.
“It is easy to stay active and keep moving when you live in the middle of so much natural beauty,” says Reggie Porter, Manager of the Park Springs Fitness Club and Wellness Center. “Walking is one of the best exercises – for people of any age. It is weight-bearing, so it strengthens your bones; you use most large muscle groups in your legs; it is good for your heart and circulation – and it clears your brain!”
Reggie is also the creator of the famous Park Springs Trail Mix: a delicious snack that is full of goodness!
The Park Springs Trail Mix includes:
- Almonds – Considered one of the earliest domesticated tree nuts. These nuts are rich in vitamin E, B, and minerals such as magnesium, calcium and potassium. They also provide a healthy dose of fiber. You only need an ounce, which equates to about 23 almonds.
- Walnuts – Due to their omega-3 and vitamin E content, walnuts are known to have a protective effect on the brain and can help temper inflammation.
- Dried Cranberries – Cranberries provide a sweet counterpart to the nuts. Enjoy them as they are
- Dark Chocolate Chips – contain anti-oxidants.
