Park Springs Wins Gold Achievement Award for Pebblebrook at NAHB International Builders’ Show

PS-55plus-gold-award-2016On January 19, Park Springs won the NAHB 55+ Housing Industry Council’s 2016 Best of 55+ Housing Gold Achievement Award for Pebblebrook at Park Springs, Best 55+ CCRC Community on the Books.

Congratulations to our entire team, headed by Andy Isakson, Managing Partner, Isakson Living, Brian Thomas, Isakson Living’s Vice President of Construction, and Jim Schneeberger, Executive Director of Park Springs.

“We want to thank the Staff, Members and families of Cobblestone for their integral input and feedback regarding Pebblebrook,” says Brian Thomas. “Many months before our architects started their drawings, we asked a lot of questions and did a lot of listening. ‘What can we do better? What do you want to see?’ All the work to create Pebblebrook is done before the first dirt is turned. Everybody’s invaluable insights contributed to us winning the gold.”

The design for Pebblebrook is by the local architectural firm Foley Design, the same company that designed Park Springs more than ten years ago, ensuring continuity and visual harmony throughout the Park Springs complex.

Bringing Home the Gold

The awards presentation took place at the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel during the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS), the largest annual light construction show in the world, every year attracting 50,000 visitors from more than 100 countries.

The prestigious Best of 55+ Housing Awards event celebrates the fastest growing niche of home building. According to the NAHB website: “55+ housing goes beyond just a home and encompasses design elements, community planning and lifestyle considerations for boomers including walkability, amenities and ease of use.”

Pebblebrook

In 2015, Isakson Living, the Atlanta developer who in 2004 launched Park Springs, the region’s premier retirement community, invited Park Springs Members for a preview of its planned expansion: Pebblebrook. This new healthcare center focused on skilled nursing and memory care is to be completed in 2017.

The design for Pebblebrook is by the local architectural firm Foley Design, the same company that designed Park Springs more than ten years ago, ensuring continuity and visual harmony throughout the Park Springs complex. Pebblebrook will be an integral part of the Park Springs community and will be oriented toward the original campus.

New Construction

“Pebblebrook will set new standards in the senior living industry, with its state-of-the-art Physical Therapy facilities, its large (4,000+ sq. ft.) community hall for speakers, events and other gatherings, and with a fresh and welcoming design that will allow for as much natural light as possible,” notes Isakson.

Park Springs plans to construct Pebblebrook on a 6.75 acre parcel adjacent to Park Springs’ Stone Mountain campus. Pebblebrook will offer a new Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and Alzheimer’s Care (ALZ) community to replace those functions in Park Springs’ existing health center, Cobblestone.

“We have embraced the ‘household model,’” explains Isakson. “Each neighborhood will have its own common dining room and dedicated country kitchen, living and activity areas, a fireplace and, most importantly, consistent staffing to create a sense of family.

“There will be two courtyards, on two different levels, to enjoy Georgia’s mild seasons in a lovely landscaped setting. Also, there will be a Lobby Café, something that is not very common in a healthcare setting. This will be great for Members and visitors to get together for a bite or a cup of coffee.”

Cobblestone, the existing health care center on the original Park Springs campus, will be converted to 100% assisted living suites for a total of 52 suites.

Adaptable transportation will be offered to all Park Springs Members, likely on a regular schedule, between the main campus and Pebblebrook.
