14 Feb A lifetime of love: Three Park Springs couples talk Valentine’s Day and staying in love
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Northside Neighbor featured three sweetheart couples at Park Springs Life Plan Community who have been married for a combined 184 years. Here is what Linda and Chris Clark, Marilyn and John Peatman, and Barbara and George La Chapelle had to say about their secrets to happily ever after.
You cannot outgive each other, the Clarks say. Chris credits Linda with being the most giving person he knows, and she says Chris has the happiest disposition of anyone she has met. The Clarks plan to celebrate Valentine’s Day at the French Petite Violette restaurant.
The Peatmans have always had their own identity but come together as a couple to discuss bigger issues or disagreements to arrive at consensus. To Marilyn and John, every day is Valentine’s Day, but they do plan to celebrate the holiday by a dinner with close friends.
George is quick to quip “happy wife, happy life,” but Barbara attests that he is good to living up to that saying. The La Chapelle’s share that they make a good couple because they complement each other with each of their individual strengths compensating the other’s weaknesses. This Valentine’s Day they plan to have a special dinner together to celebrate their lifetime of love.
