Closer Look With Rose Scott: Park Springs Staff Shelters-In-Place

Rose Scott of WABE 90.1 Atlanta’s Closer Look With Rose Scott recently interviewed Donna Moore, COO of Isakson Living, which owns and operates Park Springs, regarding the decision to have 60 employees shelter in place within the community.

“When I see our employees put their lives on hold to take care of our members, it’s very humbling,” shared Moore. “It truly speaks to who our employees are and the fact that they believe in what we do here at Park Springs, which is purposeful relationships.”

Park Springs took preemptive steps to reduce the exposure to COVID-19 by having 60 employees, including Moore, volunteer to live on campus. At the same time, they are offering programming and ensuring that members are interacting with their families by using technology to schedule Zoom calls, FaceTime, virtual birthday parties and broadcasting classes. Moore emphasized that “social distancing does not mean social isolation” and therefore they are keeping their members connected.

The planning has payed off. To date there have been no cases of COVID-19 in their memory care and long-term care facilities.

“It’s not a job for us. It’s who we are and it’s what we do,” Moore continued. “We take care of people. That’s what we do. That’s our mission.”
