23 Jan Life and Travel are Worry-Free at Park Springs
“I really loved my townhouse in Decatur. But once I started looking at Park Springs, I realized I had a number of rooms I didn’t ever walk into. That seemed crazy to me.”
What seemed a lot less crazy to LaVerne Brown was downsizing to a right-sized home in a community that offered so much of what she wants out of life.
After her husband passed about 15 years ago, LaVerne relocated from Texas to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law in Decatur. She built an active and productive life here, including a demanding volunteer position as the head of an international religious organization. The work requires frequent travel and leaves LaVerne little time for managing a large home.
“In my townhome, I was always concerned about the furnace going out in the middle of the night and things like that,” she adds. At Park Springs, I have none of those worries. I can basically lock the door and walk out, knowing all is well.”
Another big plus for LaVerne is the Park Springs social life. Like many Members, she jokes that it’s a lot like living in a college dorm—but with considerably nicer accommodations! She points to the tendency of many seniors living on their own in large homes to isolate. At Park Springs that’s really not an option. Other advantages include the wonderful staff and the pet-friendly lifestyle.
“In my wildest dreams I couldn’t have imagined a place that would have met all my needs like Park Springs,” says LaVerne.
